In this course you will produce a series of prints inspired by the local flora and fauna that you see on your visit to the pays de la Loire.
If you are a complete beginner, I will show you, step by step, how to produce a beautiful set of prints. If you aready have some experience of printmaking, I will help you to build on your skills to produce an inspired body of work.
Before we start our session in the studio, you will have the opportunity to take photographs in the area with the focus on interesting foliage, flowers, insects and wildlife that would lend itself well to a linocut print with the emphasis being on pattern.
From your photographs you will develop your design on paper ready to transfer to the block. Next, using lino cutting tools, you will carve out your design and then the printing will begin. Using water-based inks and an age old burnishing technique you will be able to print and over print whilst having fun exploring colour combinations and tonal variations.
You will leave with the skills to create your own work at home, along with the series of prints that you create during the workshop at Bousi.
