The Journey

Old French farmhouse
“Bousi” as it was in 2021 when I fell in love with it…

I travelled with work, initially living in Europe and then in the States, then moved back home to the UK and settled in Bath following my Arts Degree.

In 2007 I relocated with my daughter to Perth, Western Australia, but returned home, missing my family, friends and the stunning architecture of Bath.

I continued to work using Art and Music theraputically with a range of different groups of people, whilst raising my daughter.

Then in autumn 2020, I relocated to France endeavouring to realise a dream that I’ve held for many years – to build a wellness arts retreat, somewhere to relax, be, and create.

Having sold my little house in Bath, I set off for France, to find a place where I could create a tranquil art retreat for those wishing to explore thier creativity. I saw countless houses, both north and south of the Loire River, before falling in love with a bit of a wreck!

Its been quite a challange, during the last 3 years. There have been many unforseen problems with the house itself, ontop of the ones that I was aware of. Physically demanding work and stress of fianance etc has caused some serious health problems but I am determined to see the project through to fruition.

Learning new skills has been rewarding, both in terms of a sense of achievement, but also helping to keep costs down and I am happy to report that things are moving steadily and that life here at “Bousi” is good. Weekly gatherings of the Bousi Singers bring this most beautiful of places to life and, with the external works taking another step forward this summer, it’s an even more wonderful place to just ‘be’.
